Chrysanthemum plate

Simple, understated and alluring - are some of the adjectives we will use to describe this series by local pottery brand, Embers pottery. Frequently gravitating towards simple finishes and silhouettes, Amber aims to make functional pieces that she herself would enjoy using in her own home.

This chrysanthemum plate, or kiku-zara in Japanese, is first thrown on the wheel and subsequently draped over a mold that imprints the chrysanthemum pattern onto the soft plate. Each petal is then hand-carved with a loop trimming tool to refine the beautiful pattern.
