Hana teacup (five-petaled)

Local pottery brand Synceramic, is well-known for her use of unique decorating techniques and textural plays but this Hana series of teacups is more of a visual delight than a textural one! 

For this series, she wanted to create a functional tableware piece that was inspired by cherry blossoms or in general, flowers. The body was intently trimmed very thin to showcase the lightness of a flower and the petals were carved out by shaving the clay off the edge when the piece is dry. Some of these teacups are 3-legged too!
