It's been some time since we went last went for an arts exhibition, so when we saw an Instagram post by Carragh Amos announcing a ceramics exhibition that she was participating in, we immediately locked the dates down in our calendar! Held over 21st - 24 January 2021, the exhibition was titled 'earth.' to celebrate the diversity of clay.
Held alongside Singapore Art Week 2021, earth. presented the works of six contemporary ceramicists based in Singapore. Abraham Ling, Carragh Amos, M. Fikret Ercan, Alvin Ng, Chew Seow Phuang and Mona Malhotra.
What was special about this exhibition was that the six Singapore-based artists actually hail from five different home countries - India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Turkey. It was intriguing to see how the different cultures influenced their works and certainly even more refreshing to see how their work intersect at times.
Here are some snaps of the exhibition and some of the ceramicists' works. Enjoy!
