We promised ourselves to do zero work during our trip to London but... you know what they say, once a potter-head always a potter-head. Of course, we had to visit whichever pottery studios that were having their Open Studio period during our vacation dates and we went for two!
It's been over 10 years since we last visited London, or even Europe for that matter, so we knew we had lots of ground to catch up on when we planned our trip to London & Scotland! We weren't too keen on visiting most of the touristy places again but we knew we had to check out as much markets as we can since London has quite a vibrant creative scene! So here are our top 3 recommendations.
While preparing for our second exclusive collection, this time with local potter Lerae Lim, she dropped the bomb that she was in the midst of opening up her own pottery studio (with a partner). And of course, us being us, we knew we had to make a visit down as soon as it opened. And that, we did. When the studio was almost ready, we caught up with her at her new studio to get to know more about her and to take a sneak peek!
We first discovered En Ceramics on Instagram when we were searching for Singapore-based potters to join us for our Two-Day Clay event in June this year. What drew us to her tableware were her seemingly simple yet elegant forms, coupled with her lovely colour palettes that complemented her designs very well. We contacted her to produce an exclusive collection and the rest is... history.
